Aurum Resources Hits 57m of Gold Outside Resource at Boundiali Ahead of October Resource Update

Aurum Resources has reported a fresh batch of thick gold intercepts from its Boundiali project in Côte d’Ivoire, with a standout 57 metres at 2.34 grams per tonne sitting outside the current resource. The results arrive days before the explorer’s next ASX-announced Mineral Resource Estimate, which is targeted for the end of October 2026. For investors watching the ASX gold sector, it is a reminder that exploration-led growth stories are still drawing attention during a choppy period for the metal.

What the drilling showed

The update covers 25 diamond holes totalling about 5,651 metres across three targets. At BST1, one hole returned 57 metres at 2.34 g/t gold from 290 metres, including a 2 metre zone at 37.95 g/t. Managing director Dr Caigen Wang noted that this interval, along with a 28.35 metre intercept at 2.02 g/t at the BMT2 target, lies outside the existing resource. BMT2 does not yet have a defined resource at all, so those holes point to potential new tonnes rather than simple infill.

Why the timing matters

All of these holes were drilled before the 30 September cut-off for the upcoming resource update, which means they should feed directly into the new estimate. Boundiali currently holds 3.22 million ounces, and the wider group sits at 4.38 million ounces including the Napié project. The company says it has more than A$95 million in cash after a recent placement, 16 owned rigs turning on a 180,000 metre program this year, and a definitive feasibility study due late 2026, with first gold targeted for the first half of 2028.

What it means for ASX investors

Explorers with a clear development pathway have become a focus as producers chase growth, a theme seen in recent gold M&A commentary from Perseus. Producers such as Capricorn Metals show how a project can move from study to steady output, though the gap between drilling success and production is long and uncertain. West African projects also carry permitting, fiscal and jurisdictional risks that Australian-based developments do not. Gold has been volatile after a weak September, and the World Gold Council has reported strong ETF demand even as prices slid, so sentiment toward the sector remains mixed. Note that the drilling update was issued by the company and has not been independently verified.
