Bivar has launched a series of ultraviolet LEDs that are fully RoHS compliant and demonstrate high resistance to shock.
According to the manufacturer, the LEDs are available in 3mm (UV3TZ ) and 5mm (UV5TZ ) through hole packages and each is comprised of four tightly binned wavelengths, 390, 395, 400, 405, with a wavelength tolerance of +/- 2.5 nm.
The series provides 10-20 mW output while consuming only 15ma of current, and has a rated operational life of 10,000 hours.
Both packages are available with a narrow 15º and slightly wider 30º viewing angle.
Each LED contains an integrated zener diode to provide enhanced ESD protection.
Applications for the LEDs include activation of fluorescent ink, strips & fibers, counterfeit currency detection, finger print identification, leak detectors, medical devices and adhesive curing.
