Sandvik to launch underground coal loaders and drill rigs at QME

Sandvik Mining and Construction will launch its new service and support branch as well as a range of underground coal loaders at the 2010 Queensland Mining and Engineering (QME) exhibition.

The LS151 and LS191 underground coal loaders incorporate a number of significant advances in underground loader technology, including substantially lower emissions, increased safety and ergonomics, more power and torque and easier servicing.

The manufacturer says the LS151 is a replacement for the Eimco 913 LHD and responds to demand for a five tonne loader.

According to the company, the 10 tonne LS191 features the latest-generation electronic engine technology for improved performance, reduced emissions and lower fuel consumption.

The company’s stand, number 9216, will also feature one of the largest items of equipment on display at the event QME; the DR460 open cut coalmining blasthole drill rig.

The drill rig is designed to drill holes with diameters from 251 mm to 311 mm and to depths of 75 m.

It is 11.5 m long by 6.4 m wide and nearly 20 m tall.

The company will host attendees at its new Mackay branch on the Tuesday and Wednesday evenings of the show.

The branch includes a strip-and-rebuild workshop designed for continuous miners and other large underground and surface mining equipment, a fabrication workshop, a machine shop, paintshop, a high-bay parts storage warehouse and office facilities.
