Refuge chambers

  • Published: 26/08/2008

Strata Safety Products Australia will shine the spotlight on its large range of refuge chambers on Stand 2332 at GME.

According to the manufacturer, the steel chambers provide quality breathing air to miners trapped underground in the event of an emergency.

They have a 48 hour back-up battery power supply and 48-hour back-up air supply if connection to a mine’s main power sources and airlines fails.

Other features include a high quality filtration system that completely cleanses the air in the chamber to prevent CO2 and heat build-up.

The chambers are equipped with drinking water, padded seats, air-conditioning, lighting, and a chemical toilet.

Strata will also focus on its Airdoc fully self-contained, powerless station at GME.

According to the company, this transitional unit offers miners a non-toxic environment to rest OR exchange self-contained self-rescuer (SCSR) units during an evacuation.
