Downhole Surveys has released the GyroSmart, a portable gyro designed to survey inside drill rods to remotely monitor and diagnose the exact position and relative deviation on a rig’s drill hole.
The data collected on the GyroSmart can be sent via an Internet connection to the Quality Control department at Downhole Surveys, a full time service centre in Perth, Western Australia, where trained technicians and engineers review survey activities and communicate monitoring, maintenance and trouble-shooting information to the GyroSmart in the field.
"The GyroSmart provides an accurate survey solution used on any drill site — and with the real-time support for GyroSmart system and the service centre, the technology is now usable for both surface and conventional push down underground applications,” Downhole Surveys Business Development Manager Ben L’Heureux.
From the DHS quality control service centre, the team remotely accesses the Gyrosmart PC tablet control system to proactively monitor customers’ surveys.
Using the survey files combined with current activities, the team advises customers on surveying operations, from setting up the instrument in the drill hole to monitoring rotations in the drill hole.
They can also issue a final survey report using the onsite data.
