Mobile asset management system

  • Published: 23/02/2009

Topcon Positioning Systems has released its Topcon Tierra web-based mobile asset management system — which allows for on-line, real-time remote monitoring of all types of mobile plant and equipment.

Developed specifically for the construction industry, Topcon Tierra is a web-based telematics service that makes all on-board data from any piece of mobile equipment — earthmoving and construction equipment, trucks, site vehicles and other equipment — securely available to any internet-based system.

In addition, the data flow can be two-way, with any information that an operator needs to see able to be communicated directly to a vehicle or machine on a job site regardless of location: local, regional, national, or global.

According to the company, the wireless telematics service provides a choice of four hardware setups, real-time monitoring of dashboard information, bidirectional cellular or satellite communications, the largest data warehouse and data mining system in the industry and guaranteed security.

The remote diagnostic module makes available information on the exact condition of each vehicle and its components from a remote location.

Periodic reports are available about status of individual machines and maintenance needs, to lower idle and downtime and increase efficiency and productivity, according to the manufacturer.

The reports can be customised to suit the individual needs. Time periods can be selected so that differing jobsite tasks can coincide.
