Flip Screen E130 saves Prominent Hill

  • Published: 26/05/2009

A recycling attachment manufactured by Flip Screen Australia has enabled contractor B J Jarrod to reuse material excavated from a water supply pipeline trench for the new Prominent Hill copper-gold mine in South Australia’s remote north to be re-used to ‘bed in’ the new pipeline.

A Flip Screen E130 attachment mounted on a Daewoo excavator was employed to screen the spill material originally excavated from the trench.

Using the Flip Screen E130, the contractor reused the original material by screening it to the required size effectively saving Prominent Hill thousands of dollars as the original material did not need to be carted away nor did any new material to specification need to be imported along the 32 km pipeline length.

According to Flip Screen Australia, the flip screen E130 uses a 360 degree rotating action to sieve finer materials out through the mesh screening chamber while the larger particles are trapped inside by the inward spiralling action.

Upon counter rotating the larger particles are released.

There are now thirteen models available in the Flip Screen screening range to complement excavators, wheel loaders, telehandlers, backhoes and skid steers.

Screen sizes on the Flip Screen are available ranging from 17mm up to 300mm and can be changed in less than five minutes by one person.
