Fire suppression system

  • Published: 05/06/2008

Wormald will be showcasing its vehicle fire suppression systems, demonstrating both its foam and powder options, on stand 1039 at QME 2008.

The suppression system is compliant with Australian Standard AS 5062-2006, passing the system approval for its foam water spray vehicle fire suppression system. In addition, the company is in the process of having its Ansul™ A101 vehicle powder system achieve AS 5062 compliance.

According to the company, the systems provide critically needed risk reduction management for heavy vehicles as well as plant and equipment used in the mining and quarrying industries against the threat of fire. Should a fire break out, the systems are able to provide operators with the additional time necessary to safely evacuate.

A complementary line also on display will be SABRE® ELSA, the third generation version of the popular ELSA constant flow escape breathing apparatus, designed to aid escape for operators of heavy plant and equipment from hazardous atmospheres, such as fires or asphyxiating fumes that can arise in mines.

Providing breathable air, the SABRE® ELSA consists of a compressed air cylinder with combined cylinder and pressure reducing valve, supply hose to air hood and stowage bag.

The air supply is automatically activated upon opening the bag.

The product is available in either 10 or 15 minute durations.
