Enware Australia's FAST-ACT rapid response safety kit neutralises hydrofluoric acid

Enware Australia has released the FAST-ACT rapid response safety kit, which can be used to neutralise hydrofluoric acid, a dangerous chemical used in resources, industrial and laboratory processes.

Hydrofluoric acid (HF) is an extremely corrosive liquid and a contact poison, which can penetrate tissue quicker than typical acids.

Systemic toxicity can occur via contact with skin, eyes or swallowing, the company says.

HF is particularly dangerous because it interferes with nerve function, meaning that burns may not initially be painful.

HF can be used in the mining industry to dissolve rock samples.

The First Applied Sorbent Treatment — Against Chemical Threats (FAST-ACT) rapid response safety kit offers one-step neutralisation of either liquid or vapour spills.

The kits can be tailored to user requirements, employing 70g, 300g, 500g, 3kg and 5kg shaker tubs of the product and one, two and four kilogram fire extinguisher-style pressurised cylinders for liquids, vapour and off-gassing.
