Endress+Hauser Australia has released the Field Xpert, a handheld communicator that streamlines device commissioning, diagnostics and trouble-shooting both directly and offline.
The unit can operate with a HART/Bluetooth modem over WiFi supported networks.
Unlike other field communicators, which require a separate laptop or computer to access the internet, device descriptions can be wirelessly downloaded straight to the unit.
According to the company, the Field Xpert then communicates to the field device modem via Bluetooth.
Similarly, offline configurations can be viewed with Field Xpert and downloaded later to the field device.
Endress+Hauser says the same data can be downloaded to multiple devices by simply changing the key reference or tag number reducing plant technician time in the field.
The unit is based on Microsoft Windows Mobile 6 and provides fast boot up and operation.
Applications for plant asset management activities, such as maintenance and documentation, can also be installed using Endress+Hauser’s Asset Xpert software tool.
The Field Xpert provides support for HART devices and will be available for FOUNDATION Fieldbus, PROFIBUS PA and WirelessHART protocols.
