BHP Billiton commissions Reutech MSR 300 radars at Mt Keith

  • Published: 11/08/2009

BHP Billiton’s Mount Keith open-pit nickel mine in Western Australia has selected Reutech Radar Systems’ Movement and Surveying Radar (MSR) 300 as its primary monitoring system to provide early warning of potential slope failures.

Four MSR 300 units have been delivered and commissioned at the site.

According to Reutech, the MSR 300 is the most advanced slope monitoring radar system on the market.

It is the only mining radar that can operate up to a distance of 2500 m under all weather conditions.

The mine and mineral processing plant operates 24 hours a day and seven days a week.
