SafeWork South Australia will investigate a recent incident at Leigh Creek coal mine in the State’s north in which a man apparently fell from a bulldozer, and died later in hospital.

South Australia Police have provided the first response to the incident, however, the circumstances will be examined in detail by inspectors from SafeWork SA’s Mines and Major Hazards Team.

SafeWork SA is in contact with the Mine Manager, and the Port Augusta and Leigh Creek Police.

Inspectors from Adelaide and Port Pirie will first head to Port Augusta to review information gathered by Police, before heading to the site itself.
