THE CSIRO’s has released the report Social dimensions of mining in Australia — understanding the minerals industry as a social landscape, through the Minerals Down Under Flagship.

The report is aimed at mapping the social landscape of the minerals industry and helps inform efforts towards a socially sustainable future.

The report also provides an overview of recent literature, explores current research and industry perspectives, and identifies research gaps.

Report co-author Dr Fiona Solomon says, “Despite this, ‘the social’ remains the least understood aspect of the concept of sustainable developments ‘triple bottom line’ of economy, environment and society.”
