Safety Show draws thousands

The recent Safety Show Sydney saw over 10 000 visits to its occupational heath and safety events.

The largest workplace safety event in New South Wales saw thousands of visitors flock to practical demonstrations of the latest in workplace safety and to new safety products.

The workshops held by WorkCover NSW on bullying, materials handling and workers compensation were popular with attendees, while the height safety seminars by Workplace Access & Safety were booked out early.

According to the show’s organisers, one in four visitors to The Safety Show and Sydney Materials Handling were from the manufacturing sector, one in five from government departments and approximately 15 per cent came from the building and construction sector.

One of the exhibitors, Regan Carr of Warehousing Equipment, said he had expected the economic downturn to have had some impact on attendance to The Safety Show. “I was expecting lower numbers but I thought I may be surprised, and I was. Most people were genuinely interested in increasing their knowledge or solving problems. They weren't there for half a day out of the office."
