Rockfall halts mining

Production at the Mount Lyell copper mine in Tasmania has been halted due to a rock fall.
According to the ABC, Copper Mines of Tasmania said blasting had caused a serious rock fall.
There were no injuries.
Workplace Standards Tasmania has already begun investigations on the site.
Mill operations were not effected.
This Tasmanian rock fall follows on from the much larger rock fall at Grange Resources’ Savage River iron ore mine, in the State’s west.
The estimated bill from this rock fall is expected to be approximately $50 million, after half a million tonnes of rock fell into the open cut mine.
