Rio Tinto's train drivers will walk off the job again today, a union spokesperson has told Australian Mining.
Members of the Construction, Forestry, Mining and Energy Union (CFMEU) will stop work for four hours in an attempt to gain a collective agreement with Rio Tinto.
CFMEU's Western Australia mining division secretary Gary Wood said the action was taken because Rio Tinto had refused to meet with the union to discuss a collective agreement. "The CFMEU will push forward with further industrial action including a 24 hour stoppage on Tuesday October 4," Wood said.
"We would much prefer it if we didn't have to stop work and rather had some system in place that would force Rio Tinto to the table.
"Even if both parties can't come to an agreement, just to get them into the same room would be an advantage."
The CFMEU is currently looking over the legislation and will present a report to the Federal Government in a bid to amend the acts currently in place. R
