Western Plains Resources yesterday announced it has reached an agreement which could soon see it ship iron ore through either Port Adelaide or Port Pirie in South Australia.
The company has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Flinders Ports in which it reached an agreement for the interim handling, storage and shiploading of iron ore from its Peculiar Knob DSO (direct shipping ore) iron ore mine south of Coober Pedy.
The two companies sad they will cooperate to develop a detailed set of protocols backed by appropriate contracts between them for the export of ore before the end of the first half of 2010.
Flinders Ports will now be responsible for obtaining all third party and regulatory approvals necessary for the agreement to come into effect.
Western Plains Resources also reiterated it’s commitment to the longer term development of a new bulk commodities export facility at South Australia’s Port Bonython.
