ROCKHAMPTON, Mackay and the Gold Coast will be included in the domestic flight network of flight provider Tiger Airways, with flights to and from Melbourne available from November 23.

This decision will make Melbourne a viable holiday destination for workers in Bowen Basin mining communities.

Tiger Airways is targeting a large customer base of Central Queensland communities, including the mining communities of the Bowen Basin some of whom fly into Central Queensland for work.

The company will be flying direct between Rockhampton and Melbourne, four times a week on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday.
