Iron Ore 2009 Conference

The CSIRO and the Australasian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy (AusIMM) are jointly organising the Iron Ore 2009 Conference, which will focus on 'Ensuring Ongoing Growth' as iron ore demand returns to full swing.

The conference will be held at the Burswood Convention Centre in Perth from 27 to 29 July.

In a statement, the organisers said the global iron ore market would start to show signs of recovery once China and India begin ramping up the industrialisation process again.

The event will feature two technical tours and a post-conference workshop on ‘Successful Sampling.’

WA Minister for Mines Norman Moore will open the conference.

Conference Chairman Dr Ralph Holmes said, “The immense pressure on reducing costs across the minerals sector has stalled the growth of iron ore in recent times.”

“It is timely for the industry to position itself now to meet this demand and underpin the ongoing growth of the iron ore industry,” he said.
