Swick Mining is a finalist in the 5th Annual Australian Mining Prospect Awards for its development of the underground diamond drill rig.
In 2004, Swick set about developing a new design concept that would attempt to overcome the inherent design issues and produce a rig that would offer improved productivity, safety and versatility to the mining industry.
The unique configuration of the carrier and its high mobility provide increased time at the face drilling and very quick site to site moving times averaging around 2.5 hours versus the standard 12 hours expected from multiple skid configurations.
The rig has the potential to deliver increases in metres drilled per shift.
