Free information seminars for coal sector

From 1 September 2008 the NSW coal mining industry will experience some modifications under the extended Occupational Health and Safety Regulation 2001 Act.

Over 20 Codes of Practice made under the OHS Act that presently apply to general industry will also apply to the NSW mining industry.

The Codes of Practice cover various matters including OHS consultation, manual handling, noise management, hot and cold work environments, hazardous substances and dangerous substances and construction work.

To help improve understanding and make it as easy as possible to comply with the application of the OHS Regulations to the mining industry, the NSW Department of Primary Industries (DPI) will host a series free industry information seminars.

NSW DPI inspectors and Mine Safety Officers will be on hand at each seminar to answer any questions.

The seminars will be held at Singleton Civic Centre, Singleton on 22 July 2008 from 9:30am to 11:30am,

Penrith RSL, Lawson Showroom on 30 July from 10am to 12pm and Cardiff Panthers Hunter Auditorium from 9:30am to 11:30am on 31 July.
