Cyclone closes down coal terminal

Macarthur Coal has seen Cyclone Ului force the closure of its Dalrymple Bay coal terminal.

The miner declared force majeure in relation to vessels making their way to the port loading facilities.

The terminal received the last shipments of coal via rail on Wednesday.

Macarthur was unable to comment on whether the cyclone and subsequent suspension of activities will effect its end of year sales forecast of between 4.8 million tonnes and 5 million tonnes of coal.

While it was predicted to be back in operation by today, the miner has yet to announce whether the rail and port facilities have been reopened.
