Bowen Basin Spotlight

Australian Mining invites editorial contributions and story ideas for its Bowen Basin feature in the July 2009 issue.

The Bowen Basin is an area of coal reserves and mining related communities that extends over approximately 60,000 square kilometres of Central Queensland from the town of Collinsville in the north to Theodore in the south.

The region represents the largest coal reserves in Australia and the 34 operational coal mines extract over 100 million tonnes annually.

This represents some 83% of the State of Queensland’s coal production

The feature will look at the history of the area and the latest trends and developments in mining technology.
