AUSTRALIAN Minings cameras go deep underground at Awaba Colliery.

Australian Mining has launched a special video presentation of the Australian Mine of the Year.

The video was unveiled at the 4th Annual Australian Mining Prospect Awards, held at Homebush Bay, Sydney.

The video profiles Centennial Coal’s Awaba Colliery in the Hunter region of NSW.

The video comprises interviews with mine manager Keith Falconer and other key operators at the mine.

The footage of the mine is exclusive to Australian Mining.

Awaba Colliery was to complete primary development work and then undertake a minimal amount of pillar splitting as production slowed at the mine.

As a result of a change to colliery management the life of the operation was re-assessed.

A successful extension to the mining operation was calculated to add two million tonnes of saleable product and extended the life of the mine by more than two years.

At projected operating costs, and if current market prices were maintained, this would generate an additional $25 million of earnings.

The video presentation can be viewed at www.rbievents.com.au/mineoftheyear07/.
