Work resumes after miners injured

Operations at Peabody Energy’s North Goonyella coal mine have resumed after it was shut down last week.

The Queensland mine was closed by the Mines Inspectorate last Tuesday after two miners were severely injured in a mine shuttle crash.

This most recent incident comes after a number of recommendations for safer conditions when working underground with heavy vehicles were put in place, following the death of miner Jason Blee in similar circumstances three years ago.

The Department of Mines and Energy announced yesterday that North Goonyella operator Peabody had addressed all issues raised by the Mines Inspectorate, and had allowed operations to recommence yesterday afternoon.

  • Work resumes after miners injured .... why do you assume everyone knows where this mine is? Surely you could at least add which State it's in.
