Aureka Strikes Visible Gold at Comstock’s Walkers Pit as Victoria Miner Eyes Fast-Tracked Production

Aureka Limited (ASX:AKA) has intersected visible gold in a new drill hole at the Walkers Zone of its Comstock Gold Project near St Arnaud in central Victoria, adding weight to plans for a fast tracked return to production at the historic goldfield. The result lands as Aureka progresses licensing for a small mining operation at Walkers pit and finalises a toll milling arrangement to process ore without building its own plant.

Visible Gold in the Walkers Zone

Drill hole NED035 returned two intervals of visible gold. The first, from 21.5m to 21.8m downhole, comprised coarse grains of 1mm to 2mm in a quartz vein around 18m below the pit surface. The second, from 61.1m to 61.5m, contained 13 grains of visible gold measuring 0.5mm to 2mm in a thicker vein roughly 40m deep. Visible gold is a useful indicator of a mineralised system, but it is not a substitute for assay results, which the company expects within three to five weeks.

A Toll Milling Path to First Production

Aureka has picked Walkers pit as its preferred route to reopen production at Comstock, part of a St Arnaud project area that already hosts a JORC resource of 56,500 ounces of gold. Rather than build a plant, the company has struck a binding toll milling partnership with the nearby Wedderburn Gold Mill, a lower capital route that could bring the project into production faster than a conventional development. A Small Mining Licence application is progressing, and management will detail the production pathway and introduce a new chief operating officer at an investor webinar on 19 August.

What It Means for ASX Gold Investors

The push comes as gold trades near record levels, a backdrop that has encouraged producers large and small to accelerate paths to cash flow, from Western Australian developers like Minerals 260’s rapidly expanding Bullabulling project to smaller Victorian restarts such as Comstock. Global investment demand has stayed firm, per gold demand trends reported by the World Gold Council, echoing themes in our earlier look at what near record prices mean for ASX gold stocks. For a company the size of Aureka (ASX:AKA), a low-cost toll milling route to first gold is the kind of catalyst that can shift its valuation, though investors should wait for assay confirmation before reading too much into visual results alone.
