Hats off to light solution

Jessica Darnbrough

F&C Mining Products has launched the world’s first LED cordless cap lamp for underground and surface mining applications.

The cap lamp weighs approximately 125 grams and has a light intensity of 2000 CD for the main beam and 3000 CD for the high beam.

According to the company, the device can be built to suit various applications including intrinsically and non-intrinsically safe lamps for coal and hard rock mining.

The lamps are able to sustain the high beam for a 12 hour shift and can be retrofitted onto any standard hard hat using the lamp attachment.

The lamps are half the weight of previous models, according to the manufacturer.
