SANDVIK has launched a drill that is designed for use in rapid decline development in hard-rock mining, civil construction tunnelling operations, and for drilling 12 to 75 m² cross sections.
The drill incorporates the company’s TCAD computer-aided drilling system, ground-level daily service points, along with built-in diagnostics.
The TCAD system allows designers or tunnel planners the ability to provide computer-designed optimum drill patterns to the operator on a USB memory stick.
The USB is plugged in and indicates to the operator where to drill via an in-cab on-screen display.
Associated with TCAD is Sandvik’s TLOG logging system, which logs all drilling activity back to the memory stick, and allows the designers to check the required drill patterns have been drilled.
The unit has been designed with all daily maintenance points at ground level, for ease of access, and increased safety.
