The NSW State Government has approved mining and construction company Sandvik’s request to open a 'super site' in the New South Wales Hunter region.

The Government gave the all clear to Sandvik’s assistance package which will see it consolidate its NSW and Queensland facilities at a single site in Heatherbrae, near Raymond Terrace.

The ‘super site’ is expected to generate more than $600 million for the local economy over five years.

The Minister for the Hunter, Jodi McKay, said it is a great boost for local jobs.

"We're talking about securing 600 jobs which could have gone to another state and also a further 150 jobs that will be created over the next four years," she said.

"It is about jobs and investment and I think importantly it's also about expanding our work in general in the region in high technology engineering."
