Non-contact voltage meter

Hioki EE Corporation has developed the Safety HiTESTER Model 3258, designed to provide a safe method of measuring voltages in circuit breaker compartments.

The Model 3258 uses technology designed to compensate for the inaccuracies caused by coupling capacitance based on a voltage comparator principle.

The probes are optimised for LV measurements to 600 V AC, uses a two-probe method to measure phase voltage to neutral/ground and also phase-to-phase.

Measurements can be made on insulated cables from 38 mm2 upwards, on busbars and terminals.

According to the manufacturer, the 3258 experiences little accuracy degradation as the battery power begins to decrease.

The Model 3258’s metallic contacts can be accessed without removing its breaker covers, which increases safety for instrument operators and speeds up servicing procedures by keeping the device running during the measurement procedure.
