Mineral sands project approved

Jessica Darnbrough

Astron has gained the necessary environmental approvals for its Donald Mineral Sands Project from the Victorian Government.

The project, located in the Wimmera region of north west Victoria, gained approval after three years of consultation with the Victorian Minister for Planning, various stakeholder groups and regulatory authorities.

Astron’s development manager Emma Vogel said the decision will help finalise the company’s feasibility study and complete other project requirements.

“This project will contribute greatly to the local economy, she said.

“We’ve done an enormous amount of work to reach this point including detailed environmental and engineering surveys for both our planning and for the State authorities.”

“With this approval the Donald Mineral Sands Project will be held to an extremely high environment and social standard.”

The Project will now be assessed by the Victorian Minister for Resources and the Federal Minister for the Environment.
