Komatsu Australia has released the 860E-1K electric drive rigid frame dump truck.
Featuring a total payload capacity of 254 tonnes (280 US tons), the dump truck is powered by a 2015kW, 16 cylinder two stage turbocharged Tier 2 diesel engine.
The 860E can reach a maximum speed of 64.5 kilometres per hour through a 35.52:1 final gear ratio via its liquid cooled IGBT AC-drive system.
It also features a trolley-assist system which can be used with either 1600 or 1800 volt lines, allowing the truck to travel uphill faster while engine RPM reduces to idle speed.
The dumper utilises an ultra-quiet dynamic retarding system capable of generating 3470 kW of braking power applied by four wheel wet disc brakes.
Komatsu Australia’s newest dump truck also contains a five position adjustable air ride seat as well as a full size heavy duty passenger seat for operator training and other applications.
Inside the 860E-1K’s cab is an integrated electronic dash display as well as a Vehicle Health Monitoring System (VHMS). The VHMS allows for minesite technicians to check operating and trend data, monitor production and payload data as well as cycle times.
Komatsu is looking to be in full scale production of the 860E-1K dump truck by 2010.
