Intrinsically safe cap lamps
Jessica Darnbrough
NLT Australia has launched a world first intrinsically safe Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN) that addresses the International Electrotechnical Commission for explosive equipment (IECex) standard.

The messenger lamp utilises the WLAN for two-way communication.
The WLAN is designed to withstand the rigours of underground environment.
The intrinsically safe communication solution enables underground coal mines to take advantage of real-time two-way communication.
The company’s messenger cap lamp is an integrated communications device that utilises the WLAN to enable real-time two-way text messaging and tracking.
Tracking enables mines to improve safety and productivity by knowing the location of assets and personnel in real-time.
