Hydraulic air driven pumps

Jessica Darnbrough

The Heypac series of air driven fluid pumps are said to offer a low cost power source and are intrinsically safe.

According to the company, the double acting, free piston, compressed air driven hydraulic pump can be used for general use wherever a compressed air supply is available.

The output flow and pressure depend upon the intensification ratio relative to the air supply pressure and volume.

The hydraulic pump has a pressure range up to 560 bar and flow rates up to 80 litres/min which is said to offer power on demand wherever compressed air is available.

The company also manufacturers smaller hydraulic air driven pumps that cater for lower flow requirements and pressures up to 680 bar.

The pressure sustaining pump works on a reciprocating differential area piston principle.

According to the company, this means the pump uses a large area air drive piston connected to a smaller area hydraulic piston to convert compressed air power to hydraulic power.

Heypac pumps and power units are now available from Romheld Automation.
