According to the company, the pumps provide optimal shaft stiffness for trouble free operation.
“A pump with a low shaft stiffness ratio will be more durable and tolerant, allowing it to perform multiple duties and run at varied speeds as well as be operated by an inexperienced user,” Sykes Group product manager Chris O’Brien, said.
“This flexibility makes these pumps highly suitable for mine sites and rental businesses where applications and duties are varied.”
The generally accepted industry shaft stiffness ratio is within the 1.5 to 2.5 range while the US Navy specifies a ratio of 0.75 for critical and demanding applications.
The Sykes XH80 pump has a ratio of 0.39, the XH100 has a ratio of 0.25 and the XH150 ratio is 0.28.
Sykes Group will also use GME to exhibit a new generation of Grindex drainage pumps and its Olympic pump range which offers reduced fuel use.
Improved design of the Grindex pumps means they have at least three times the wear-resistance of earlier models as well as the same high performance. They are also easier to handle and faster to service.
The Olympic pumps are designed to move liquid with solids while reducing fuel usage and, hence, operating costs.
They range in size from 80mm to 300 mm with the 150 mm pump offering savings of up to 340 litres of fuel a week.
