Gate switch and interlock

Pilz Australia has introduced the PSENslock that combines the functions of a safety gate monitoring switch and interlock in a single unit.

The PSENslock holds the gate closed with a long-life, maintenance-free electromagnet with a holding force of 500 N while drawing 4.8 W from a 24 V DV supply.

The lock is designed for applications up to SIL3 (safety integrity level 3) in accordance with EN/IEC 62061, and Category 4 in accordance with EN 954-1.

The lock and actuator can tolerate a maximum of horizontal and vertical misalignment of 5 mm.

According to Pilz, coded transport technology makes certain that the safety switch is virtually impossible to manipulate, and ensures the life of locks that are opened frequently.

Featuring double sided, high brightness LEDs, the lock can be mounted on left or right hinged guards, and also on aluminium profiles for hinged guards.

The PSENslock also features an M12 connecter which, according to the company, makes the lock easy to install on the machine or replace if damaged.
