Flow control products provider Flowserve Corporation has announced the availability of new valve coating technologies designed to increase cycle life and improve performance.

Now standard for the Flowserve McCANNA McCannaseal top-entry wedge-seated ball valve, the Tungsten carbide and thermal-spray coatings offer cost savings through reduced maintenance and increased resistance to abrasive, high-temperature and severe-service applications, the company said.

The coatings are applied using various methods including chemical vapor deposition process (CVP) and thermal spray.

In laboratory testing, Flowserve found that the coating technologies increased cycle life by approximately 150% under severe operating conditions.

We have been applying these coatings on US made Flo Serve products to repair worn out components in pumps and valves for a number of years. This is excellent technology and we are happy to see that it is accepted more often now on OEM components. The only thing we do not like, is that we will not be repairing the components as often.
