The first batch of pylons for the Cape Lambert wharf extension arrived on site, with the second batch due shortly.
The 55 metre-long pylons, the longest ever to be used at a Rio Tinto Iron Ore Pilbara port, range in diameters from 700 mm up to 1600 mm.

Their length allows a contingency for any potential issues associated with geological stability throughout the pylon driving program.
All 56 pylons were offloaded at the service wharf, then carefully transported without incident on a purpose-built pair of bogey trailers to the lay-down yard near the power house.
About 150 pylons, all manufactured at Ningbo in Southern China, will eventually be delivered to site for the 250 m wharf extension.
