Eye protection increases worker safety

Jessica Darnbrough

ACCORDING to the latest Resources SafetyMineSafe magazine, the amount of lost time eye injury has decreased by more than 66%.

In 1987-88 the amount of recorded lost time eye injuries was 216 out of 2,246 LTIs.

Two decades later, 15 lost time eye injuries were recorded out of a total of 462 LTIs.

Resources Safety attributes this improvement to a greater compliance with the requirement to wear eye protection as well as more functional and comfortable safety glass designs.
