Contract miner of the Year: PYBAR Mining

Jessica Darnbrough

Pybar Mining and Civil Contractors is a finalist in the 5th Annual Australian Mining Prospect Awards for their continued growth, development and hard work.

The company has been in the contracting business since 1993 with headquarters in the city of Orange in New South Wales.

In the last few years this Cinderella company has gone from strength to strength.

The company has experienced excellent growth and developed a reputation of excellence in the marketplace and currently employees around 600 people.

What started off as a small operation/contracting company has grown exponentially over the last year.

Now PYBAR Mining operates at numerous sites throughout Australia.

The company is committed to the internal development of their employees at all levels of the organisation.

They have developed a portable training program that allows employees to work their way up the business ladder by obtaining further education while at work.

By establishing a baseline understanding of the units of competence held by each employee, PYBAR is able to provide a direct correlation to ongoing training and career progression. This will then be translated into the basis for Existing Worker Traineeships where appropriate.

Through the various trainee programs, PYBAR is able to make sure they have competent operators, knowledgeable supervisors and qualified project managers working for their company.
