Climate change success

ALCOA has been awarded the Clean Air Achievement Award for leadership in clean air technology.

The Clean Air Society of Australia and New Zealand (CASANZ) presented the award.

The award was presented for the company’s carbon capture technology that locks up CO2 that would otherwise be released into the air.

The system is operational in the Kwinana alumina refinery, and is said to lock up 70,000 tons of CO2 a year, the equivalent of taking 17,500 cars off the road.
