Conveyor-belt manufacturer Fenner Dunlop Australia has received backing from the WA Government for its new $70million plant in Western Australia.
The plant is said to be the largest and most technically advanced of its kind in the world and would create at least 150 new jobs.
Construction of the facility on Mounsey Road in Kwinana would begin in May and was expected to be completed by April 2009.
The plant would produce and supply high performance, heavyweight conveyor belting using steel reinforced rubber.
The plant would incorporate a research and development centre of excellence for conveyor and materials technology and a modern training school.
The facility would also have a low environmental impact, with no hazardous waste produced.
