AusIMM CEO awarded

THE Australasian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy (AusIMM) has presented a special award to the AusIMM CEO Don Larkin for his services to the Institute.

The award was given for taking the AusIMM to new heights of professional standing and relevance, from 1999 to 2007, through superior and sustained advocacy, inspiration, leadership and management, according to the award citation.

Larkin has been CEO of the AusIMM since 1999.

The Award followed advice that he would not be renewing his contract at the end of 2007 when it expires.

He has worked in the private, government, education and not for profit sectors and has focused on the strategic interface between Government and Business.

Larkin’s positions have included Chief of Staff to the Speaker of the House of Representatives, director of the Australian Administrative Staff College, Mt Eliza, executive director of the Australian Hotels Association, executive director of the State Chamber of Commerce and Industry and acting managing director of the Tourism Council of Australia.
